What are neuromodulators or neurotoxins (Botox)?

• Botox is a purified neurotoxin that temporarily relaxes muscles by blocking nerve signals. It’s commonly used for:

  • Reducing wrinkles: Smooths fine lines and wrinkles, especially on the forehead, around the eyes (crow’s feet), and between the eyebrows.

  • Face lifting and skin tightening techniques: treatment options that lift the brows, tighten under eye skin and a more defined jawline.

  • Other Botox uses: Helps with migraines, excessive sweating (hyperhidrosis), muscle spasms, TMJ disorders, and even overactive bladders.

The effects typically last 3 to 4 months, after which muscles gradually regain movement.

What you can expect after Botox:

Immediately After

• Mild redness, swelling, or small bumps at the injection sites (usually fade within a few hours).

• Possible minor bruising.

• No immediate results—Botox typically takes 3-7 days to start working fully.

First Few Days

• Avoid rubbing or massaging the treated area to prevent spreading the toxin.

• Stay upright for at least 4 hours after treatment.

• Avoid strenuous exercise, alcohol, and excessive heat (like saunas) for 24 hours to minimize swelling and bruising.

1-2 Weeks Post-Treatment

• Maximum results appear by day 7-14.

• Wrinkles will soften, and muscles will feel more relaxed.

• Some people experience a "tight" or slightly heavy feeling, which fades over time.

3-4 Months Later

• Botox gradually wears off as the muscles regain movement.

• Follow-up treatments every 3-4 months are needed to maintain results.
